Hey,
Sometimes IRAF asks something like:
Fit aperture 1 interactively? (no|yes|NO|YES) (yes):
What is the difference between no and NO? and yes and YES?

Usually "no" is just for one image, while "NO" means for all images. Similarly for "yes" and "YES".
It's a very handy convention.
