With the verbose flag set, the only thing you should see is a line like:
old_file.fits -\$this->_split2($m[0]) new_file.fits
or an error message. What you posted looks like a parameter editor screen (i.e. 'epar imcopy'), so to execute the task you would type ":go" to run with the current parameters. From the commandline it would be run as something like
cl\$this->_split2($m[0]) imcopy file_name.fits[535:546,456:432] file_name.fits verbose=yes
where I'm assuming the 'file_name.fits' is just used as an example name. It isn't clear though whether you are trying to overwrite the input image entirely, what happens when you use a different output name in a test?

After I fill in the imcopy task where do I type ":go" because when I press enter, nothing executes. And what should i fill in the "output images or directory"?, and it said "error: cannot open the image" when i gave the command - "imcopy file_name.fits[ ] file_name.fits verbose =yes". Please help!

The ":go" is the command you would use to execute the task from the parameter editor, e.g.
cl\$this->_split2($m[0]) epar imcopy
.....change parameters
..... type ":go" to execute the task
Otherwise, the command can be run by setting the parameters on the commandline, e.g.
cl\$this->_split2($m[0]) imcopy foo.fits[535:546,456:432] foo.fits
will extract the section "[535:546,456:432]" from 'foo.fits' to a temporary image and then overwrite the original file. Unless your file is literally named "file_name.fits" the 'cannot open image' message may be a permissions problem, e.g. do you own the image or is it in another user's directory?
