(sorry if this is a double post, I tried locating it to add a reply note and can't find it, so here it goes (again?))

hi Folks,

I have one chip, 16 amplifiers images. I managed to define sections correctly. CCDSEC, DATASEC, BIASSEC, DETSEC

I run mkmsc and I get 16 layer MEF.

If I display the MEF using msdisplay I see the image with no gaps between the chips as I expected.

Now, if I run ccdproc and turn the "merge amplifiers from the same ccd" on I get a single image as expected, however, this image still has the overscan section in it.

I did make sure I trim the image in the ccdproc option.

Curiously enough, if I save the image as MEF, the MEF layers do not have the extra overscan "pixels".

The nonMEF file:

--\$this->_split2($m[0]) imhead lixo77
lixo77[9456,9292][real]:

The MEF file:

--\$this->_split2($m[0]) imhead lixo771[im1]
lixo771[im1][1152,4616][real]:

8 * 1152 (eight amplifiers, 1152 each sub"ccd") = 9216 = 9456 - 8*30 (eight amplifiers 30 overscan pixels)

or

2 * 4616 (two amplifiers, 4616 each subccd) = 9232 = 9292 - 2 * 30 (two amplifiers 30 overscan pixels)

Do I need to specify something other than just "merge amplifiers from the same ccd" ?

Well, I thought I could use mscimage to convert this MEF to a single fits, BUT:

--\$this->_split2($m[0]) epar mscimage
Traceback (innermost last):
File "", line 1, in
SyntaxError: Error in CL script /Users/kanaan/Ureka/variants/common/iraf/mscred/src/mscimage.cl
Non-keyword (empty) arg after keyword arg in call to combine (line 299)
Warning: Missing closing parenthesis (line 299)

As you can see I am using ureka :-(

cheers,

Antonio

me again.

I downloaded mscred and installed it under the plain iraf side of life.

I ran ccdproc "merge amplifiers from the same ccd", same issue.

I ran ccdproc without the merge amplifiers option:

ERROR: Bad extension version range list
"hselect (tmpfname, "ccdmean", yes) | scan (x)"
line 469: mscsrc$ccdproc.cl
called as: `ccdproc (mode=h)'

This is my iraf version:

NOAO/IRAF PC-IRAF Revision 2.16 EXPORT Thu May 24 15:41:17 MST 2012

On mac os x 10.9.5

cheers,

Antonio
