Hello!
IRAF newbie here. I'm modeling galaxies with IRAF's ellipse package.
The past two galaxies I've looked at seem to be causing IRAF some confusion.
First, it can't find the center of the galaxy from the parameters I give it in Geompar as it asks for the center coordinates when I run Ellipse.
Secondly, once Ellipse gets ~ 60 or 50 pixels from the center I get the error:
Error in 1st and 2nd harmonic fit. Please, verify output table.
These two galaxies are not completely face on, is that maybe the problem? I've played around with many of the input parameters in geompar such as ellipticity and position angle, but nothing seems to work.
Thanks!

The ELLIPSE task was developed and is maintained by STScI. If you don't get a reply here you can contact their helpdesk at help@stsci.edu. Using the 'Search' box on this site (under the main banner upper-left) and looking for 'harmonic' or 'ellipse' turns up past threads that might also help.
