Hi,
I'm running IRAF V2.16.1 and STSDAS V3.17 on a PC with Fedora 22 and when I try to use ellipse ds9 turns completely white.
In other words, I cannot see the image in the interactive mode. I have no problems with the display routine and with the ellipse routine,
both work ok. However, when using ellipse with the option interactive=yes, ds9 does not show the image. If it helps, I can observe that the colorbar shows only zero values.
thanks in advance.

STSDAS is being distributed as a 32-bit only system and in this case I think you're seeing an incompatibility with the 64-bit CL doing the graphics. This was reported a few times before and the solution is to use a 32-bit CL which you can get from
ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/v216/support/linux/vocl.e (as well as 'cl.e' and 'ecl.e')
Download in binary mode and replace the CL binaries in your $iraf/bin.linux64 directory.
I have a nagging feeling there's a piece to this I'm forgetting so if you continue to have problems post back.
