Greetings,
I was successful install IRAF on my mac. Upon typing cl when it says welcome to IRAF etc.
Along the lines it says, Error : No release file
Does anybody know what this is and why? I would appreciate any recommendations to how to fix this error.

The message is coming from the CHKUPDATE task in your login.cl and simply means the $iraf/.iraf_release file couldn't be found. The task failed but that's mostly harmless. This could happen if you unpacked the tarball in one directory but then did something like "cp * /iraf/iraf" to move the files (but not the dot-files). Simply unpack the tarball again in the final location or uncomment the task in your login.cl to avoid the message.
