I'm having weird problems (that I've never seen before) when I'm now trying to use IRAF (V2.16) on my iMac running Mac OS X 10.9.5. Specifically, I'm using the task 'cosmicrays' (which I've used in the past a zillion times). I haven't done further testing, but I strongly suspect that what I describe below is not limited to that task. Anyhow, my input is a list:
@master.NB_3.21sm.list_P100sm
and my output is a modified version of that list:
@master.NB_3.21sm.list_P100sm//c
I get the following error:
ERROR: Input and output image lists do not match
Can anyone tell me what causes this and how to prevent it? As I say, I've done this very thing countless times before, just not under Mac OS X 10.9.5.

Try using:
cl\$this->_split2($m[0]) reset use_new_imt = no
before running your task to bypass the new image template code in v2.16. If this fixes your problem you can make the change permanent by either setting this in your login.cl file or editing the system hlib$zzsetenv.def file.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, the suggestion did not work. Here is a listing of what happened:
crutil\$this->_split2($m[0]) reset use_new_imt = no
crutil\$this->_split2($m[0]) cl cl cl

Apologies. I'm not sure what happened with that last post. It looked fine in my browser.
Anyhow, the proposed solution did not work. Here is what I saw:
crutil\$this->_split2($m[0]) reset use_new_imt = no
crutil\$this->_split2($m[0]) cl cl cl
