Hi I am trying to match the psf of two frames, but it seems that I am missing something. I have create the psf profiles for each image with psf/daophot and then I am trying to match the psfs with psfmatch, but my result doesn't make sense at all.

I am using cl\$this->_split2($m[0]) psfmatch Image2.fits Image1.fits.psf.1.fits Image2.fits.psf.1.fits kernel convolution=psf

These are the parameters:

input = Image2.fits Input images
referenc= Image1.fits.psf.1.fits Reference images or reference psfs
psfdata = Image2.fits.psf.1.fits Objects lists or input psfs
kernel = kernel Input/output convolution kernels
(output = ) Output convolved images
(convolu= image) Kernel computation method
(dnx = 52) X width of data region to extract
(dny = 52) Y width of data region to extract
(pnx = 26) X width of convolution kernel
(pny = 26) Y width of convolution kerne

and then
cl\$this->_split2($m[0]) fconvolve Image2.fits kernel.fits outimage.fits

Then when I do imarith Image2 - outimage.fits test_diff.fits, the test_fits doesnt look good. The stars are still there. What I have done wrong?

I would like to thank you for your time.

Without seeing the data in question it is hard to say what went wrong. Problems like this are sometimes a result of bad image registration, otherwise what you're doing comes straight from the help page examples.

Could you upload the needed files to the anonftp at ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub so I can try to reproduce the problem? It would also help to know which version of IRAF and which platform you are using.
