This is the first time I try to do photometry using IRAF. I want to make a catalog for my standard stars. I am using the package mkcatalog.
I finished entering the name of the columns and their width. I enter ^Z and ^D to terminate entry mode however I am receiving the following message:
PHP Formatted Code ^D is not a legal column name - skipping
PHP Formatted Code ^Z is not a legal column name - skipping
Is there any other way to terminate entry mode?
Thanks in advance

The EOF is only usually Ctrl-Z or Ctrl-D but it can be set to anything. IRAF is looking for the EOF control code not a specific character, and this is determined by the terminal you are using. Outside of IRAF you can issue the command "stty -a" to see your current terminal settings, you should see something like
cchars: discard = ^O; dsusp = ^Y; eof = ^D; eol = ;
where the 'eof' char is set to ^D, yours may be different.
