Hi,

I've installed RVSAO in IRAF v2.16.1, on a Linux x86_64 platform, using the "make " tool, and I discovered that the bin.linux directory is empty. I tried to make it both with IRAFARCH set to linux64 and to linux, but the bin.linux directory remains empty.

I checked the rvsao files in ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/v216/REPO/, and downloaded manually rvsao-linux.tar.gz. The problem seems to be there, as it misses the RVSAO executable:

PHP Formatted Code
ncaon@italia> tar -ztvf rvsao-linux.tar.gz | grep bin
-rw-r--r-- fitz/users     9513 2008-07-02 19:40 rvsao/Util/rebin.x
-rw-r--r-- fitz/users     4234 2011-09-20 21:26 rvsao/Util/vcombine.x
lrwxrwxrwx fitz/users        0 2013-10-27 23:32 rvsao/bin -> bin.generic
drwxr-xr-x fitz/users        0 2008-09-10 18:04 rvsao/bin.generic/
drwxr-xr-x fitz/users        0 1998-12-31 16:56 rvsao/bin.linux/

On the other hand, the rvsao-redhat.tar.gz file seems to be OK

PHP Formatted Code
ncaon@italia> tar -ztvf rvsao-redhat.tar.gz | grep bin
-rw-r--r-- fitz/users     9513 2008-07-02 19:40 rvsao/Util/rebin.x
-rw-r--r-- fitz/users     4072 2008-12-09 23:24 rvsao/Util/vcombine.x
lrwxrwxrwx fitz/users        0 2010-11-23 13:23 rvsao/lib/librv.a -> ../bin/librv.a
lrwxrwxrwx fitz/users        0 2010-11-23 13:23 rvsao/bin -> bin.generic
drwxr-xr-x fitz/users        0 2008-09-10 18:04 rvsao/bin.generic/
drwxr-xr-x fitz/users        0 2010-11-23 13:23 rvsao/bin.redhat/
-rw-r--r-- fitz/users  1017394 2009-11-20 19:24 rvsao/bin.redhat/librv.a
-rwxr-xr-x fitz/users  2066414 2009-11-20 19:24 rvsao/bin.redhat/x_rvsao.e

Would it be possible to produce the executable for the "linux" (or perhaps even "linux64") release?

Thanks a lot

Nicola

Indeed the linux binaries were missing from the repo file, sorry about that.

This has been fixed and the repo updated, doing another "make rvsao" should update the package with linux binaries. As far as I know the package hasn't been ported to 64-bit and so bin.linux64 binaries wouldn't work properly anyway. IRAF will still be able to use the 32-bit binaries even on a 64-bit IRAF system.
