Hello,
Sorry for the basic question but I need to know the description of bands when I use multispec format in apall. I could not find them anywhere. I have four bands extracted in the final wavelength calibrated spectrum. The last 2 seem like the background but what is the difference between the first two spectra in a multispec file.

These should be specified in the multispec header's 'BANDID' keywords in the image, e.g.
BANDID1 = 'spectrum - background fit, weights variance, clean yes'
BANDID2 = 'spectrum - background fit, weights none, clean no'
BANDID3 = 'background - background fit'
BANDID4 = 'sigma - background fit, weights variance, clean yes'
