Hi Mike,
Today I installed IRAF v2.16.1 on my laptop (Mac OS X 10.8) and also installed fitsutil (using make fitsutil). However, I noticed that the libmef.a binary was not included in the bin directory in the fitsutil directory (we need this binary to compile the Gemini IRAF package). I tried to look for a log of the output from the compile step, but I couldn't find one (are they dumped somewhere accessible to the user?).
Is there any chance you could take a look at this for me?
Many thanks,
Emma

Thanks for the report. I've updated the package in the repository, you can update with
% cd $iraf/extern
% make fitsutil

Thanks Mike, I can confirm that the libmef.a library is now included in fitsutil
