I have images with wcs in header computed by imwcs(from wsctools). When I load an image into ds9 directly the wcs info is displayed, and the "display fits header" shows the entire header.
However, when I run "imexam filename wcs=world" from the ecl, there is no wcs info displayed, and the fits header shows only simple, bitpix, naxis, naxis1,naxis2 and end.
How can I get this to show the wcs info?
Jim

This is a long-standing shortcoming of DS9 as an IRAF display: it only uses the approximate coords and pixel scaling sent with the display protocol instead of opening the image the read the actual WCS the way is does when loading the file directly. You might try loading the image using the DS9 'File' menu and then use IMEXAM on the already-displayed image as a compromise.Note also that due to problems introduced in v7.2, SAO is recommending that v7.1 be used for iraf image displays.

The same problem appears on ds9 version 7.3. I changed it to 7.1 and the problem was solved.
