I have usnob1@noao defined in my astcat$lib/catdb.dat as defined in previous posts. It sometimes works, but often is hangs and eventually the connection times out. I know there are other USNO-B1.0 servers out there, but I can't seem to get the syntax correct for the database. Does someone have entries I can cut-and-paste for other USNO-B1.0 servers? Also, the usnob1@noao server returns stars within a radius even though rrawidt and rdecwid are separately defined in aregpars. Is there a way to force AGETCAT to really get a rectangular region, or is this hardwired in the usnob1@noao definition in the database? Thanks,
jp

I've uplaoded an alternative catdb.dat file that contains entries for USNO catalogs (USNO-A2, USNO-B1, NOMAD and ACT), this is available athttps://iraf.net/ftp/pub/fitz/catdb.datYou can download this and install in noao$astcat/lib and you should be able to access the catalogs at the alternative site.As for getting a rectangular region: The data queries are based on a radius and in cases where regions are being used but the ra/dec width differ, the max width is used in the query. If you want a rectangular region you'll need to filter the result table, e.g. using TSELECT from the TABLES package.-Mike

Great, thanks Mike!
I note the default format of the output catalog from usnob1@usno is somewhat different than that from usnob1@noao. I would like to force all output to be in sexigesimal format, which seems should be with the appropriate foraformat, e.g.[code:1:9e90fe92c7]agetcat filter+ fields="ra,dec,mag1" fsort="ra" catalog=usnob1@usno foraformat="%12.3H"[/code:1:9e90fe92c7]However, that doesn't seem to change the actual format of the output, it only changes the descriptor for that field in the output header. For instance, here is the output for the usnob1@noao, followed by the same for the usnob1@usno.[quote:9e90fe92c7]
