Hello SmileI'm having some troubles running IRAF and was wondering if anyone could help me.So after a bit of tinkering, I've installed IRAF (downloaded from macsingularity.org) as well as X11 and all the other bits and pieces on my laptop. It's a Mac Powerbook G4 (PPC) running OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger).xgterm opens fine, and allows me to login to IRAF. Everything works fine until I try to open any graphics in xgterm -- then it closes unexpectedly, dropping me back into the X11 window with an arcane looking error message:
[code:1:d8fe959ca2]Error in message to server, line 6: send: could not find object gterm
while excecuting
"send gterm setGterm"
xgterm Xt error: Shell widget gterm-iraf has zero width and/or height[/code:1:d8fe959ca2]The specific package I'm trying to use is noao > onedspec > splotCan anyone offer any advice? Do I need to download and install "gterm"? Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers!

This reminded me of a problem I was having last summer. I posted the solution on http://iparrizar.mnstate.edu/~juan/urania/2007/08/09/hint-resolving-xgterm-problems-outside-of-iraf/. In a nutshell. I would check your login.cl file and any other cl scripts you run in IRAF and make sure they DO not execute a [code:1:13714a682b]stty xterm[/code:1:13714a682b]I found that replacing it with [code:1:13714a682b]stty xgterm[/code:1:13714a682b]fixed everything.

Thanks for the quick reply -- but I'm afraid my login.cl script was already set to stty xgterm, and it's the only .cl script I've set up. ConfusedEDIT-- Forget that!
For some reason there were two login.cl files. I've fixed the other one now and it works just fine. Thanks a lot! Big Grin
