I fixed this at one point so the ECL was built statically but the change must have been lost in the v2.14 upgrade. You'll need to install the 'ncurses' RPM for Fedora, or else you can get a statically linked binary from https://iraf.net/ftp/pub/fitz/ecl.e and install in $iraf/bin.redhat (download in binary mode and be sure to make it executable)[quote:d5fe7a4fc2]The other problem I face is why the backspace key cannot functioned?how to make it works? [/quote:d5fe7a4fc2]The ECL should take care of this, but this is a long-standing issue with a long-running explanation of possible answers. 'Backspace' depends on the keyboard, user settings, X resources, OS version and a multitude of ways these interact. Get the new ECL and write back if you still have problems.-Mike

Hi Mike, thank you for the quick help.
I used this command to install the ncurses:#yum install ncurses
but it told that the file is already installed. The message is as follows:[i:59ff8bf196]setting up install prosess
Package ncurses-5.6-12.20070812.fc8.i386 is already installed.
nothing to do[/i:59ff8bf196]so, I tried the other one. The file was downloaded on the desktop then I just copy the file to the $iraf/bin.redhat. then tried again cl command in a terminal but the same error message appeared.so,what should I do?please help me.
Thank you.Naz
