Has anybody successfully installed the mtools package on an Intel Mac? When I try to do it almost all the sub-packages compile and are installed correctly, but mysplot gives the following error:
------------------- MYSPLOT ------------------------
Library libpkg.a is up to date
Object splot.o is up to date
xc -Nz -p noao splot.o libpkg.a -lsmw -lxtools -lllsq -liminterp -lcurfit -o xx_mysplot.e
/usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols:
_myeqwh_
_myeqwp_
_mygfit_
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
Warning, mkpkg line 7: module `relink' not found or returned error
move `xx_mysplot.e' to `../bin.macintel/x_mysplot.e'
$move: file `xx_mysplot.e' not found
Warning, mkpkg line 27: error moving file xx_mysplot.e
Warning, mkpkg line 8: module `install' not found or returned error
Warning, mkpkg line 37: module `update@mysplot' not found or returned error
Warning, mkpkg line 12: module `mysplot' not found or returned errorIt would be great if somebody can figure out what's going on. Thanks

I just added these to the download page for external packages. The MTOOLS package (I believe) has been orphaned for a while so a number of code changes were required to get it to build. None of this has been tested and you may be out of luck if any serious bugs are found, but the updated source was also added so it should now build properly on other platforms as well.Cheers,
-Mike

Thanks for that.
I didn't know how to use the binaries, so I tried compiling the sources you posted. Almost everything compiles properly (at least no errors appear in the log), but i get the following couple of warnings:
------------------- CHART --------------------------
warning: library `libpkg.a' not found
...
------------------ INDICES -------------------------
warning: library `libpkg.a' not found
...Then I tried to use mysplot and the comand "e" to fit the center of an emission line and got "ERROR: floating point invalid operation"I read the README file on the mysplot folder you posted and says that libpkg.a would be needed for mysplot to compile (but there was no complain in the mysplot part of the compilation log).
Later I tried just moving your binaries into the folder bin.macintel that was created on my compilation, replacing the files. Nothing different happened, i could run mysplot, but when tried "e", i got the same Error. I checked and "e" works fine on splot (the original package of which mysplot is an extension). Thanks for your help, I hope this is a solvable problem.

Try getting the binaries (or source) again, I found a newer version of the package where some of these things appear to be resolved. Longer term it would be better to get a list of features that should be incorporated in the core tasks rather than trying to keep this current. Note the mtools-bin.<arch>.tar.gz file should be unpacked in the mtools$ directory.-Mike

MTOOLS is still available as an external package. In v2.16 systems you would install it as
% cd $iraf/extern
% ./configure # needed once
% make mtools
You can download tarballs directly from ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/extern
