One of my users is having trouble when using splot on some WIYN Hydra
spectra. Simply writing the spectrum out with "i" in splot is changing
the CRVAL1 and CDELT1 values in the header, as well as the EPOCH, HJD,
and VLSR keywords(!) and adding an WAT1_002 keyword.I also notice that the DC-FLAG keyword has a slightly odd appearance
(the multiple "/" characters).We are running V2.12.2-a EXPORT Wed Jul 14 15:14:35 MST 2004
under Solaris 2.8I've included the pre and post splot headers below, and can upload the
image(s) somewhere if that would help. Thanks,
RickyHere is the "diff" between the pre and post-splot headers (followed by
the headers in their entirety) :1c1

This is a bug when the spectrum is log sampled and an image section has been extracted. The bug log is below. I don't see an easy workaround. The user should find an alternative means for modifying the spectrum than using SPLOT.Frank Valdes

FROM: valdesBUG: When the dispersion function for a spectrum is log sampled,
e.g. DC-FLAG=1, and there is also a logical/physical pixel offset,
i.e. LTV1 is not zero, then writing out a new spectrum with the
'i' key the results in a wrong WCS. There is no workaround.STATUS: Fixed for a future release.
