I'm not sure if this is a problem that anyone else will have but when trying to install the ecl on Fedora Core 5 I got the following errors:
[code:1:c9f23c4d4c]tail: cannot open `+455' for reading: No such file or directory
uudecode: _ecl: No `begin' line
cat: ecl_tar.gz: No such file or directorygunzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
Updating cl.csh script in hlib directory ....
mv: cannot stat `cl.csh.PCIX': No such file or directory
Installing 'ecl' unix command to ( /usr/local/bin )....
Installing ECL binary ....
chown: cannot access `ecl.e': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `ecl.e': No such file or directory
mv: cannot stat `ecl.e': No such file or directory
Installing ECL in IRAF source tree ....
cp: No match.[/code:1:c9f23c4d4c]passing the -n flag in the tail command on line 401 of ecl_install_redhat.csh solved this for me. The line now looks like this:
[code:1:c9f23c4d4c]tail -n +$SKIP $0 > /tmp/_ecl.$$/_ecl # unpack the files[/code:1:c9f23c4d4c]Hope this helps someone.

Dylan,Thanks for the message. It appears the use of 'tail +N' is deprecated in FC5 and the '-n' flag is required. The ECL is actually the default CL in the IRAFNET release but I've modified the installer for future ECL standalone releases.Cheers,
-Mike
