Hello
I would apologize to my previous post; I made a mistake on posting it instead on the forum, as a comment on a home page news ... sorry. My question was related on what manual I should read as first in order to install IRAF.Moreover I would know more about the "philosophy" behind IRAF.Thanks
Carlo

I have an answer for the 1st part of your question,The best manual, in order to install IRAF, is located in http://iraf.noao.edu/ (Install Guide). http://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/ftp/iraf/v212/PCIX/pciraf.ps.gz (for a pc version)cheers,

Regarding installation, an alternative for documentation is at http://docs.iraf.net, under "Installation and Site Manager's Guides".There are also the "Introductory Materials" on the same page, from which you may glean some information that you want.Furthermore, there are plenty of design documents in the IRAF source tree, which you may (or may not) find helpful as well.Cheers!
