so long as the image is in the FITS primary data array, even very large
images. Data in extensions only (the NICMOS format) causes it to blow off.I'll try ximtool with iraf tomorrow or next week. Thanks,
Jan

Subject: ximtoolAre you responsible for the new Ximtool that gets distributed with IRAF?Whenever I try to tile frames using the pull-down menu from the Options
button, I get Error optionsMenu.item6 line 4: no value given for parameter "widget" to "cpSetTileFrames"
while executing
"cpSetTileFrames"and the image does not tile or untile. I have to toggle the Tile button on the
Control Panel twice. This is under Fedora (Redhat) Linux. Please forward this to the appropriate sounding board if you aren't it.Thanks.PBS>From fitz Fri Mar 19 15:22:28 2004

Subject: Re: ximtoolHi Peter,
Sorry for the slow reply, I was out of town. Yes, I'm the guy
responsible and this appears to be a bug. I'm working on a platform patch
now so this should be fixed shortly. Thanks for the report, in the
meantime you should be able to set the tiling mode from the Control Panel.Cheers,
-Mike

Date: Wed, 24 Mar 2004 12:15:23 -0500While I've got you on the phone, could I ask you another couple of quick
questions? This should be comparatively painless.First let me note that I do not have access to the console of my new Redhat
Fedora box; I rsh into it from an X window on a Solaris box. I do not have
root privilege on the Fedora machine. I use the csh shell. When I'm in IRAF and attempt to use the `e' function to edit previous
commands, I get"timeout - terminal type set wrong? (`stty termtype' to reset)"I've tried both xtermjh and xgterm when doing mkiraf. How do I find out
what termtype the darn thing wants? When I fire up ximtool, I get"Incorrectly built binary which accesses errno or h_errno directly. Needs to
be fixed."I assume the system manager followed standard procedures when he installed
the software. This error condition doesn't seem to prevent ximtool from
working, it just wastes a second or two in startup, and represents an
ugliness that I would like to see tidied up. What do I ask my system
manager to do to fix this? Thanks, as always. I owe you several beers.PBS>From fitz Wed Mar 24 11:21:18 2004

terminal, when in fact you're using something else. An 'stty xgterm'
will work properly only if you're actually running an XGterm window
(similarly for Xterm/'stty xtermjh'). If you started a window from one of
the icons on the linux desktop chances are you're using a 'konsole' or
'gnome-terminal' or somesuch. From that window, just type 'xgterm' to
start up an xgterm window and login from there.> When I fire up ximtool, I get

but you can use the binaries from ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/fitz/x11iraf-v1.3.2-bin.redhat.tar.gzin the meantime. Otherwise, building from source should do it (although
I don't think I've tried building x11iraf on fedora yet).Cheers,
-Mike
