Hi Bobbyjoe,
This is a known problem in the distribution which shows up on
your system because the name 'pavo' is used in the dev$hosts file. The
problem specifically is that the $iraf/unix/hlib/mkiraf.csh file contains
the node!/path/ syntax for the imdir we use at NOAO and not some generic
path, the install script isn't able to edit this pathname properly. The
install script uses the iraf MKDIR task to create this directory and since
the machine is already in the hosts file it tries to invoke iraf networking
to 'tucana' to create the directory rather than just failing silently.
Anyway, the fix is to edit the hlib$mkiraf.csh script by hand and
change the 'imdir' path near the top to something like /iraf/imdirs or
wherever you want to put the pixel files. Mkiraf should behave normally
then, but if you still have problems or questions let us know.Regards,
