Hi,
I've tried to get IRAF up and running on a quite new Mac installation (10.12.5), but xgterm is not cooperating. I can't get it to launch:
export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/X11/lib";/iraf/iraf/vendor/x11iraf/bin.macintel/xgterm
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.4.dylib
Referenced from: /iraf/iraf/vendor/x11iraf/bin.macintel/xgterm
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/usr/X11/lib/libXpm.4.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture
/opt/local/lib/libXpm.4.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.4.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture
/opt/local/lib/libXpm.4.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture
Abort trap: 6
I tried recompiling xgterm but didn't get very far as there were far too many errors. Actually, I could get most of the components of xgterm to compile, but not libobm needed to finish it completely.
I used macports to setup X11 (quartz-wm 1.3.2).
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Brent.

Ok, I finally got it to work.
I suspected the issue was because most macports libraries are 64 bit.
Recompiling them with the +universal flag did the trick e.g.
sudo port -s -v -n upgrade --force xpm +universal
sudo port -s -v -n upgrade --force xorg-libXmu +universal
Some of the other X11 packages may also need recompiling, but try these first.
