I have played a little with the figure,
and rendered it to give a Pueblo like flavour.

Thanks for the effort! The pueblo flavor goes well with the Tucson history of IRAF. See the previous comments for how the figure was generated, but the PS/JPG rendering was done simply using 'gs' to convert the format.

Might be time for a logo contest with a free mug/t-shirt to the winner? This diagram is a bit busy to render well but maybe a stylized version that keeps the overall ring/segment structure would work. It kinda reminds me of the Enlightenment logo (enlightenment.org). Anyway, somebody once said you're not a real project until you have "stuff", and my t-shirt collection is getting old 8-)
